Over the past three years at Hargreaves Lansdown, I have worked across a range of strategic product initiatives, helping to shape the digital experience for millions of clients.
From designing new customer journeys that increased account cross-sell by 21%, to redesigning core portfolio and account experiences, and contributing to the creation of a scalable design system across five product lines, my work has focused on delivering user-centred solutions that drive measurable business impact.
Design System
I led the creation of Hargreaves Lansdown's design system, establishing a scalable framework that improved consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across five product lines. From defining the system's foundations and component library to creating documentation and governance, I drove the vision and implementation of a shared design language that enabled teams to design and build with greater confidence.
Working closely with designers, developers, and product stakeholders, I championed adoption across the organisation, ensuring the system met both user needs and technical requirements. The design system became a central resource for product teams, streamlining collaboration, accelerating delivery, and providing a strong foundation for future digital products.
Portfolio
As part of Hargreaves Lansdown's ongoing investment in its mobile experience, I played a leading role in redesigning the Portfolio and Account areas of the app. Working closely with product managers, researchers, developers, and stakeholders, I helped shape a more intuitive and user-centred experience that made it easier for clients to understand their investments and manage their accounts.
From discovery through to delivery, I led the end-to-end design process, including user journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, interaction design, and high-fidelity UI. By balancing user needs with technical constraints and business objectives, we delivered a modernised experience that improved usability, increased consistency across the app, and established a strong foundation for future product development.
Accounts
I worked on the design of the New Accounts experience within the Hargreaves Lansdown mobile app, creating a seamless journey that enabled existing clients to discover and open additional accounts without leaving the app. The objective was to simplify the account opening process, reduce friction, and support the business's cross-sell strategy through an intuitive, mobile-first experience.
Working collaboratively with product managers, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders, I guided the project from discovery through to launch. This included defining user flows, validating concepts through research and testing, designing high-fidelity interfaces, and refining the experience based on user feedback.
Discover
I played a key role in designing the Discover experience within the Hargreaves Lansdown mobile app a dedicated space where clients could explore new accounts, savings products, and investment opportunities through engaging, personalised content. The goal was to create a destination that encouraged exploration, increased product awareness, and helped clients make informed financial decisions.
From discovery to delivery, I collaborated with product managers, researchers, developers, and stakeholders to define the user experience, validate design concepts, and deliver a scalable solution aligned with both user needs and commercial objectives.
By combining user research, content strategy, and intuitive interaction design, we created an experience that successfully supported product discovery while contributing to a 21% uplift in account cross-sell and a 16% increase in incremental conversions.
